The objective of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) is to prepare students for life by enabling them to develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. It finds resonance with our own Mission Statement at Bangalore International School which outlines our endeavour to promote the all round development of students with the acquisition of principles and skills for life. Adhering to CIE’s approach, we at BIS have made conscious efforts to make our students confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged individuals, equipped to face new and future challenges and make a difference to their immediate society and the world at large.

Being accredited by the University of Cambridge International Examinations Syndicate, BIS has also been a centre for Cambridge International Examinations for over a decade. Our students have consistently made us proud by securing excellent grades in Checkpoint, IGCSE, Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level examinations. With each examination series, we have new reasons to feel proud at the achievements of our students and also the effort of our teachers. Over the years, we have heard many success stories from our alumni who have gone on to excel in their higher studies and careers.

About CIE Programmes and Qualifications Offered at BIS:

Cambridge ICT Starters:

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is now part of the educational experience worldwide and regarded as a new form of ‘literacy’ alongside reading, writing and numeracy.

Cambridge ICT Starters introduce learners, typically aged 5 to 14 years, to the key ICT applications that they need to achieve computer literacy and understand the impact of technology in our daily lives.

At BIS, students from Grade 3 to Grade 8 take the ICT Examinations.

Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learners at the end of Cambridge Secondary 1. They are available in English, English as a second language, Mathematics and Science, and give valuable feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education.

The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide us with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic feedback report.

At BIS, Grade 8 students appear for the April series of Checkpoint examinations.
